A dilated pore of winer is essentially a large, solitary open comedone, also known as a blackhead. Dead skin cells get trapped and widen this pore, plugging up the opening. The expression of this plug squeezes out the macerated, white, soggy keratin/skin cells from the depths of the pore. Once the content of the dilated pore is expressed, it is common for it to fill up with keratin again. Dilated pores of winer are completely benign and are usually expressed by a comedone extractor solely for cosmetic reasons.
